The main topics to be covered in this workshop include: understanding different board models, framework governance, self-governance, operational governance, and advocacy governance, as well as accountabilities, liabilities and protections, board member rights and group dynamics. It touches on charities regulations and offers resources for further exploration. This is an interactive workshop with exercises and small group discussions.
Gloria DeSantis, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Justice Studies at the University of Regina and the Facilitator of the Voluntary Sector Studies Network at Luther College at the University of Regina. Her areas of interest include social justice, health inequities, human rights and the social change role of the nonprofit sector given its public engagement and advocacy work. Her interests stem from her 25 years of working and volunteering in the sector.
